I’m California living it up at the worst hotel… But wait, I don’t want to start this negatively. I’m very lucky to just be here, working very little, getting paid well, and walking around Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. I had dinner on the boardwalk at Hermosa yesterday, enjoying a tasty mango margarita and getting a kick out of the surfer duuuuuudes talking about the bad waves they've encountered all week.
But seriously, this hotel bites. I thought limited amenities meant no fancy breakfast and/or one treadmill instead of a full spa… not so much. I wasn’t aware they only picked up rooms once per week and if you wanted clean towels then you'll just have to go to the front desk and ask. *sigh* I kind of screwed up, but I’m too lazy to move to another hotel and should really stop complaining.
Anyhoozens, my mind lately is on the GRE and how to prepare for it. I need to study for this monster test and I’m not all that keen on standardized exams. I was told to “follow my bliss!” and so I welcome any websites, books, or courses that you’d think would be helpful. I think I have a couple of months to prepare and I’m a little scared! I haven't read enough books lately... I haven't written anything substantial... I haven't taken any exams, and God help us all if I had to take a qualifying math test today.
Wheeeeeew... deep breath.... serenity now.
I’m also reading The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. I’ve always had an odd interest in the Salem witchcraft trials as well as the European which hunts. The anti-feminist, scapegoat aspect as well as the general ignorance of it has always fascinated me. Plus, what can I say, I’d like to believe in a little magic… ;-)
Oh! And I’m REALLY excited to go back to class on June 25th! I’ll be joining Professor Marcus in his Mayhem Myth & Modernism class. We’ll be studying Hemingway, D.H. Lawrence, Tom Stoppard and other poets. I’m just auditing the class hoping to slowly but surely get back in the scholarly ways. I graduated college in 2003 so it’s been a while, but I’m thinking it’s like riding a bike… right?
*fingers crossed*
Well, that’s the update. Aren’t you excited you spent the last few minutes devoted to my nothing-ness? I’m all over the place! Please pardon my brain-scattered-ness (what’s with me and the weird hyphenated words this evening?).
I’m jet-lagged. Good night!

You absolutely should be teaching!
You have a writing style that makes one want to read just to see how you are going to say it.
In a world that has lost its sense of humor, you add a bit of brightness through your zest for life and talent for the written word.

Thank you so much! I REALLY appreciate the encouragement! I admit to sometimes having a bit of a twisted sense of humor, but it's good to know others crack as smile just like I do when I'm writing:) Again, thanks for the kudos!
Namaste ;-p
Although I only know you via your blogs and comments, but I must say that I'm totally agree with TBC.
How's your exam and your class? Hope you did well and had a great time. Keep us updated.
