I just signed the Blog With Integrity pledge. I read an article on cnn.com: Mommy bloggers vow to avoid ethical conflicts and it really got me thinking about our writing. At what point do you stop blogging for fun and cross over to doing it to just make money? It’s okay to do so, but you should disclaim that on your page.
The problem arises when bloggers are paid to review products or websites, and write entries that seem like good advice instead of paid advertising.
My disclaimer is the following: whatever I write I actually mean. I don’t get paid to do any of this and in fact have removed 90% of all the advertising on my page. I think it clutters everything and it’s not worth a dollar or two a month. Anything I say about a product, movie, or place is simply written because I mean it and think you’d enjoy reading about it.
I encourage you to visit Blog With Integrity, sign the pledge, pick up the badge, and add a short disclaimer to your blog. And please tell them Cindy sent you – I get a cut of the profit. Just kidding!
What a wonderful post and idea. I completely agree that we should question our own ethics as bloggers. By signing this pledge, I might check myself the next time I'm challenged. I love your blog sweetie!
Thanks Laura! I'm glad you likey:) I love your recipes. I'm trying the cookies asap:))))
