Hi Karinita! That's so funny! I had a tire explode on the highway as well and it should've been avoided. Thank goodness FL has the road rangers that come to save the day and help a damsel in distress... the guy did tell me, however, that I popped a tire right smack on one of the THE most dangerous highways in the country and that I was lucky that nothing happened to anyone. I was soooo thankful and felt soooo stupid ;-/

Dany - Our director was a world class a-hole... as a teacher, I know that now. But the man was incredibly talented and timeliness was one of the many lessons I never forgot! And I'm all for holding on to precious moments - all we can really keep are our memories, right? And even then... they're so fleeting. Ugh - the irony.

Loved this! All your points are spot on. I couldn't help but laugh at the first one, though. For a moment I thought you were talking about me!

I just had a HUGE conversation with my 23 year old cousin about being proactive vs reactive a couple weeks ago. After telling him several times to put air in my car's tire, it blew out around midnight on I-95 while he was driving it. A $0.75 quick fix ended up costing him $50 and now he has to walk everywhere because I won't lend him my car for being careless.

Good list. I like timeliness the best. Our band director was good to us, even if he was a prick half the time.

I think being too ambitious can also cost us. This is related to the love of stuff. Obsession with progress, with career moves, job titles, salary ranges... yes, it can help solve one class of problems, but it can also introduce others, not the least of which is: Why all the toil and trouble in the first place? They're missing out of the very life they've expensed to move forward. Silly, when you think about it.

Living life is all about living, and holding on to these precious moments as they fly by us so fast. The rest is just for decoration.

I met the most "uncurious" person the other day, then I did a series of stupidities that could've been easily avoided, then got stuck behind someone at the supermarket who was in the WRONG damn lane and so I thought... I really need to write this stuff down!

Being into what this guy was saying, and buying into it are two very different things. What does this say of you? That you're intrigued by people, especially those whose life experiences are so far removed from your own. It's a healthy approach to life I feel because it expands our understanding of others. We don't have to possess sociopathic tendencies to take interest in those who do.

This guy's treatment of women may be reprehensible, but sharing his
'secrets' with you was a gift. How many men would do that? It never
happens, and you may find it gives you a little more behind-the-scenes insight for the next time someone tries to run game on you.

Increasingly I've been drawn towards people's dark sides; the deeper and more shadowy the better. I think there's an undeniable allure to certain people that invites us in, even when we recognize the dangers. Like a dark chasm that begs us to look over its edge. I'm huge fan of therapy as well. I really believe the world would be a better place if we all spoke to an unbiased party every other month or so... I'll keep searching for my balance. I nearly fell flat on my ass when I saw you show up here again Miss Cindy, what a happy surprise!

I think most of us are like this to an extent. I'm realizing I am. It wasn't that long ago that words were coming to me fairly easily, lately it's an effort to produce a poem. Not that I'm pressuring myself, but I do find it interesting.

I tend to get excited about something and go at it with enthusiasm, only to move onto something else later and almost forget about it. Life is indeed about balance, but I'd rather be passionately obsessive than monotonously vanilla.

I totally feel the same...my life seems to be all or nothing. Thanks to therapy (big, huge fan of therapy!) I have started to find new ways of thinking of and experiencing life. I am slowly finding that balance, though I think it will always take effort for me.

Congrats on being so close to finishing your MA! That's so awesome. I won't finish mine until Summer 2013...and then I want another master's degree (in education for the second one) before I jump into the flames of a PhD. I'll be watching your journey looking for inspiration. Go Cindy!
